• Contemporary church with ancient roots
In the 4th and 5th centuries, men and women who were at home in the realm of the supernatural lived in Scotland and introduced the people to Christianity in a very different style to the church today. Stories abound of miracles of healing and miracles of nature. Celtic Christianity is rich with stories about Ninian and Columba and their supernatural exploits.
The Lighthouse Church is shaped by the influence of the Celtic church AND a desire to be contemporary and relevant to the needs and aspirations of people in the 21st century.

• What’s on?
You can tell a lot about a church by the kind of activity that’s going on. However, the key to a healthy church is not the activity but the heart and vision that pump life into those activities
The heart and vision of Lighthouse is to love God and to love people. Our activities reflect this. Check out our cell groups, celebrations, encounter retreats, our bus, our alpha courses, our leadership training schools and any other event and you’ll discover everything driven by this vision.

• Connection and Community
In the Celtic church, community was at the heart of everything they did. However it was a connection that was both natural and spiritual. Unless people connected with God first they had no resources to love one another. The Celtic church emphasised the community of the Trinity and this shaped their experience of God and one another
That’s why we place such a high value on cell groups. They are a place to connect with God and each other.
At Lighthouse, we believe that the Celtic church has a lot to teach the contemporary church. This is reflected in our vision to encourage indigenous music, to plant cell groups across communities and to provide an environment where people can experience the power of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Scott Brennan our pastor has benefited deeply from regular retreats to both Iona and Lindisfarne. He is privileged to come under the mentoring of Ray Simpson, author and teacher on Celtic Christianity.
